PALO ALTO, Calif. - Washington's Venise Chan and Denise Dy had a rough end to their Regional run today as Dy was forced to retire from her singles match and default in doubles as well with Chan, who was also upset in her round of 16 singles match.
Neither of the top-seeded Huskies were in tip top shape during the tournament, as Chan was nursing a sore shoulder and Dy aggravated a foot injury. Dy lost her first set in the round of 16 today to Cal's Tayler Davis then chose not to continue. Chan made it through her match but was upended by 13th-seeded Kristie Ahn of Stanford, 6-4, 7-6 (10-8 in the tiebreak).
The two had to pull out of their quarterfinal doubles match as well.
