Aman Scores Game-Winner As No. 23/24 UW Tops Stanford

SEATTLE - For the second time in a week, the No. 23/24 UW men's soccer team defeated Stanford in Pac-12 play. This time, it was a 2-1 victory in Seattle as UW moves to 9-3-2 overall and 4-2-0 in Pac-12 play.
All of the scoring came in the first half and for the Huskies, it was the seniors that scored both goals and earned both assists.
"I couldn't be happier," said head coach Jamie Clark. "When you are on a roll you find ways to win games, even when you get a bad break somehow you find a way to win and that's what we are doing. We had two great goals tonight and then hung on."
Senior Jacob Hustedt (Sandy, Utah) scored his third goal of the season, a header from the right side on a great pass from senior Jamie Finch (Bothell, Wash.).
"Finch played a great ball across and I just happened to be there and put it away," Hustedt said.
Taylor Amman scored his first goal of the year in the first half for the Cardinal to even the match. Stanford had a free kick on the right side about 20 yards out and after the ball bounced around in the box, Amman was there to put it in the upper right corner.
Just before half, the Huskies got the game-winner from senior Abdul Aman (Seattle, Wash.) off the bench. He scored his second goal of the season on the ground to the left side of the net. The assist came from fellow senior Brent Richards (Camas, Wash.).
UW took 11 shots, led by Richards with five. The Huskies also won the corner kick battle, 9-2.
Sophomore Spencer Richey (Seattle, Wash.) got another win in goal, making four saves.
Washington hosts Cal at 1 p.m. Sunday.
