UW Finishes Stay At Palm Springs Classic

MISSION HILLS, Calif. - Washington wrapped up its stay at the Palm Springs Classic on Sunday with probably its toughest day of the three day tournament. The four Huskies in action played several close sets against tough opponents but could not get a win.
The injury bug plagued the Huskies a bit this weekend. Freshman Capucine Gregoire did not play because of a foot injury, and senior Samantha Smith also suffered an injury during her Sunday match but toughed it out to finish a 6-4, 6-1 loss to Pepperdine's Lorraine Guillermo.
Freshman Julija Lukac fell to 45th-ranked Pamela Montez of UCLA, 6-2, 7-5, and Alison Ramos of USC held off sophomore Andjela Nemcevic, 7-6, 6-1. Freshman Natali Coronel also struggled in the second after a close first set, losing to UCLA's Morgan Thomas, 6-4, 6-1.
The Huskies will look to heal up and close their fall season on a strong note next week at the Bulldog Classic, hosted by Fresno State. The tourney starts on Friday, Nov. 11.
