OJAI, Calif. - Washington's stay at the Pac-10 Women's Tennis Championships came to a close today as the Huskies were unable to put together a run in the doubles draws at the Ojai Valley Tennis Club.
Washington had just one entrant in the main draw: senior Venise Chan and junior Samantha Smith. The two hung in against Arizona's Natasha Marks and Lacey Smyth, but the Wildcat duo earned the 8-6 victory.
Aleksandra Krsljanin and Adrijana Pavlovic couldn't get on track against a Stanford duo and fell 8-0 in the invitational draw first round. As the UW traveled just five players, senior Vanja Radunovic teamed with Cardinal Elizabeth Ecker, and the impromptu pair nearly beat the Washington State team of Googe and Troedson, but came up short in a tiebreaker.
The Huskies will now wait until this coming Tuesday, May 3, when they will learn their NCAA tournament destination. Washington is expected to earn its fourth consecutive tourney bid.
