Draw With No. 22 Florida Gulf Coast A Good Result For Men's Soccer

PORTLAND, Ore. - UW men's soccer is now 2-0-1 on the season after earning a draw with a very talented Florida Gulf Coast team that is ranked No. 22 in the nation on Sunday afternoon at Merlo Field in Portland, Ore.
"I was very pleased with how we played today," said head coach Jamie Clark. "We created chances and pushed for 110 minutes to win the game. Their keeper had a great game so all the credit goes to him."
There was no score in the first half and the Eagles struck first in the 66th minute. Cristian Raudales scored off an assist by Yianni Sarris.
With just a few minutes remaining, junior Dylan Tucker-Gangnes (Bainbridge Island, Wash.) tied it up with his first goal on the year off an assist from senior Jamie Finch (Bothell, Wash.).
After two overtime periods the game ended in a draw, but the Huskies had many opportunities to score, outshooting the Eagles 22-9 and 10-4 on shots on goal. UW also had 16 corner kicks compared to just two for the Eagles.
Adam Glick, the FGCU goalkeeper, made nine saves and was nearly impossible to get by.
Husky senior Brent Richards (Camas, Wash.) led the team with eight shots, four on goal. Junior Quinton Beasley (Camas, Wash.) had four shots and three on goal.
Sophomore Spencer Richey (Seattle, Wash.) made three saves in goal for the Huskies, playing all 110 minutes.
The Huskies won the tournament with a 1-0-1 record by tying FGCU. Richards was named the tournament's Offensive MVP while Glick was the Defensive MVP.
The Huskies will play at Seattle U on Sept. 11 at 1 p.m.
