LOS ANGELES – Despite a difficult start, UW gymnastics posted finished strong and posted its highest event team score on beam to finish Monday night's meet against UCLA at Pauley Pavilion.
"We were disappointed with our overall performance tonight," Bowers said. "We made enough mistakes to allow the judges to really hammer us on our first couple of routines and it was hard to build up our scores. But I am so proud of the way our team battled back and showed mental toughness. Meets like this will help us in the long run."
After steadily increasing their team totals in each of the first four meets of the season, the Huskies couldn't quite get into their flow in the team's first three events, including a season low event total on vault and floor.
