
GymDawgs Post Season-High In Last Meet Before Pac-12s

DAVIS, Calif. – Washington gymnastics had its best meet of the season Friday night at UC Davis on the way to a season-high 196.600 against the Aggies.
“To hit four of four events on the road and improve our regional qualifying score, we basically got out job done,” head coach Joanne Bowers said. “UC Davis had its best meet of the season on Senior Night, and the fact that we lost doesn't feel good, but we did our best and did what we could control.”
The Huskies' previous high was a 196.300 at Oregon St. earlier this season, a quad-meet where the GymDawgs took first. The Aggies posted a 196.900 to win the meet, a school record, and set multiple individual and event records along the way.
The GymDawgs received several standout performances, as McKenzie Fechter, Joslyn Goings, Janae Janik and Allie Northey posted scores over 9.8 on three events each and Jackie McCartin won her third beam title of the year. Madison Podlucky recorded the Huskies' high score on floor with a season-best 9.875.
“I'm so proud of our team tonight,” Janik said. “We came together as a unit and were united in putting together four events. You could feel the energy running through the whole team. We needed this.”
Vault
Northey and Stephanie Stowe eached posted 9.85s to lead the GymDawgs on vault and tied for second place in the event. Goings and Hailey Burleson each scored 9.8, the ninth meet in a row that Burleson has vaulted 9.8 or higher from the anchor spot. The Huskies finished with a team score of 49.075 on vault.
Bars
Janik's personal-best 9.9 on bars earned her a tie for second place. Goings and senior captain Fecthter each posted 9.85s to tie for fourth to help lead the Huskies to a 49.125 event score, their second-best of the season on bars.
Beam
McCartin won her third beam title of the season with a 9.9. Fechter and Northey each scored 9.875s to tie for second place, a new personal-best for Fechter. Janik posted a 9.85 and Goings scored a 9.825 on beam, as the Huskies 49.325 team score on beam was a season-high.
Floor
Podlucky posted the GymDawgs' high score on floor with a 9.875, her season-best. Fechter finished off her great meet with a 9.825, while Janik and Northey each contributed 9.8s. The Huskies finished with 49.075 on floor.
The Huskies will continue their season next weekend at the Pac-12 Championships in Salt Lake City. UW will compete in the afternoon session, beginning at 2 p.m. MT. The evening session begins at 7 p.m. Both sessions will be broadcast live on the Pac-12 Network.
