No. 50 Huskies Suffer 5-2 Loss to No. 24 Arizona State

SEATTLE – The No. 50 University of Washington women's tennis team suffered a 5-2 loss at home Sunday afternoon to the No. 24 Arizona State Sun Devils at the Bill Quillian Tennis Stadium. The Dawgs are now 11-10 on the season and 3-6 in Pac-12 action.
The Dawgs got off to a good start by winning the doubles point with victories on courts one and two. First up, Julija Lukac and Grace Ysidora earned an 8-4 decision at number two doubles which was quickly followed by Elianne Douglas-Miron and Miki Kobayashi's hard fought 8-7 (2) win over the 52nd ranked doubles pair in the nation in Kassidy Jump and Joanna Smith.
In singles play, Arizona State was able to take a 2-1 lead following a pair of victories on courts four and one as Leihann Sahagun defeated Julija Lukac 6-4, 6-1 and Elianne Douglas-Miron fell to Kassidy Jump 6-3, 6-4.
Washington was able to even the score back at 2-all behind Capucine Gregoire's 6-1, 7-5 win over Gussie O'Sullivan on court five. Gregoire is now 13-4 on the season and has won 12 of her last 14 matches.
Arizona State responded and went on to claim the next three points as Grace Ysidora lost 6-4, 7-6 (5) at number two singles, Miki Kobayashi fell in three sets to Ebony Panoho 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 and Riko Shimizu's match was ended as she retired with the dual match winner already decided.
The Dawgs have one more regular season match remaining as they host Oregon on Friday, April 17 at 2:30 p.m. at the Bill Quillian Tennis Stadium and the match will be aired on the Pac-12 Networks.
