Washington Hits 16 Three's In Win Over Colorado State

SEATTLE -- The No. 17 University of Washington women's basketball team connected on 16 three-pointers by seven different players in a 101-68 victory over Colorado State in the second round of the WNIT Preseason Tournament on Monday (Nov. 11) at Alaska Airlines Arena. The Huskies (2-0) will now host No. 25 Missouri (2-0) in the semifinals on Thursday (Nov. 17) at 5 p.m. PT.
"I could not be more happy for our team, " said head coach Mike Neighbors. "We carried that Final Four loss with us for a long time and now we're back in a "final four" of a tournament so let's see how we respond this time. We're really fortunate to get to play at home and now we're going to see what we can do on Thursday."
For the second consecutive game, Washington scored 100 or more points and had 10 different players in the scoring column. As a team, the Huskies shot 51.6 percent (32-for-62) from the floor to CSU's 41.3 percent (26-for-63) and held an impressive 45-21 advantage on the boards.
Six different Huskies contributed to the three-point barrage, led by Kelsey Plum who went 5-of-9 from downtown. The senior had another all-around game, finishing with 26 points, eight assists, four rebounds while going 5-5 at the foul line.
Washington's three seniors combined to score 60 points. Chantel Osahor recorded a double-double in the win with 19 points and 11 boards. The Phoenix, Ariz. native was flawless from the free throw line, going 9-of-9, a new career high.
Also in double-digit scoring was Katie Collier with 15 points, one shy of her career-best. The senior attempted and made the first three-pointer of her career in the second quarter. She also contributed eight rebounds to go along with a pair of assists and steals.
Junior Natalie Romeo was 3-of-6 from behind the arc, scoring 13 points on the night while sophomore Hannah Johnson was Washington's second-leading rebounder with nine to along with four points.
