Huskies Win Seventh Straight, Plum Becomes All-Time Leading Scorer In Pac-12 History

SEATTLE – The No. 11 University of Washington women's basketball team (10-1) handed Boise State (8-1) its first loss of the season, beating the Broncos 92-66 Sunday (Dec. 11) afternoon inside Alaska Airlines Arena. In the game, senior Kelsey Plum scored 44 points and broke the all-time Pac-12 scoring record, surpassing former Stanford Cardinal and 2014 WNBA Rookie of the Year Chiney Ogwumike (2011-14, 2737 points).
Plum, who now has 2,759 career points, scored 22 in the first half alone to tie the record before breaking it with a free throw at the 8:38 mark of the third quarter. The Poway, Calif. native matched her season-high with 44 points, which is a new high at home for the senior. Plum also matched her career-high with nine rebounds to go along with four assists and five steals. She was a flawless 9-of-9 from the foul line.
Plum also knocked down five three-pointers in the game to tie the career record at Washington. She now has 265 triples, tying Jazmine Davis' (2011-15) record.
Freshman Aarion McDonald finished the night with 21 points, six rebounds and four steals while senior Katie Collier contributed 10 points with three blocks. Sophomore Deja Strother led the Huskies off the bench, pulling down a career-high 10 rebounds to go along with seven points in 17 minutes.
As a team, Washington shot 52.5 percent (32-of-61) from the field and held Boise State to 38.1 percent (24-of-63). The Huskies also held a 41-31 advantage on the glass.
The Huskies never trailed in the contest, scoring the first seven points of the game. After the Broncos pulled to within three at the 5:05 mark, Washington went on a 10-2 run to end the first quarter leading, 24-13.
After outscoring BSU, 20-12, in the second, Washington took a 19-point lead into halftime, 44-25. The Broncos outscored the Huskies, 25-20, in the third to get to within 14 points. A jumper by Plum to open the fourth quarter sparked Washington into a 14-5 run over a span of three minutes to open the final period as the Huskies went on to earn their 10th victory of the season and seventh straight.
Washington wraps up its four-game homestand next Sunday (Dec. 18), hosting Savannah State. Tip time is set for 2 p.m. PT inside Alaska Airlines Arena.
