February 22, 2016 | Gymnastics
SEATTLE – UW gymnastics posted a new season-high for the second straight meet, finishing with a 196.450 at home against UCLA. Sophomore Joslyn Goings scored a personal-best 39.375 in the all-around to win the title.
“We can only control ourselves, and we hit all of our routines,” UW head coach Joanne Bowers said. “There are so many people who contributed in this meet – everybody did their job. That is a true team performance.”
Goings won her second all-around title of the year. She tied her career-high on beam, set a new personal-best on floor, posted 9.8s or higher in each event and had two top-3 finishes.

“Joslyn didn't even compete in the all-around last year, and we can see her gaining confidence and momentum every single week,” Bowers said.
“The energy today was really great,” Goings added. “Everybody brought their focus and we could feel the momentum building throughout the meet. We really fed off of each other, I just felt good going into my routines because of the way the team was performing.”
The GymDawgs hit 24 of 24 routines against UCLA and posted all four event scores over 49.000 for the first time this season. This performance followed up the GymDawgs previous season-high score at Utah on Feb. 13, where UW posted a 196.250.
“It was so important for us to be able to put together back-to-back complete meets, especially at home," Bowers said. "We felt like we needed to be more consistent in meets, and this was really big for us to be able to put together a meet like this again.”
UCLA finished with a 196.675 to take first.
