
Beach Dawgs Handle Hornets, 5-0

FOLSOM, Calif. – Washington won 10 of 11 sets to produce a 5-0 sweep of Sacramento State to start a busy road trip on the right foot this evening. The Husky beach squad improved to 3-4 on the year with all three wins coming in sweeps.
The Huskies went with the same lineup for the second match in a row and produced a similar result as their last time out against Concordia. Washington will now face three Pac-12 opponents over the next two days, starting with the Cal Bears on Friday in Berkeley.
The day's most dominant win came from Anna Crabtree and Lindsay Chalmers at the No. 5 spot as they quickly gave UW a 1-0 lead with a 21-8, 21-10 lead over Courtney Dietrich and Brigitte Murdock.
At No. 1, Crissy Jones and Tia Scambray improved to 5-1 on the season with a 21-9, 21-15 win over the Hornets' Madeline Cannon and Morgan Stanley. Courtney Schwan and Cassie Strickland had a 21-16, 21-13 win over Skalbeck/Gathright to improve their record to 4-2.
Carly DeHoog and Destiny Julye had another straight set win at No. 3, 21-16, 21-18 over Sarah Davis and Kennedy Kurtz. The only three setter came at No. 4, where Melanie Wade and Shayne McPherson won the first set 21-13 before Sacramento State's Brown/Takeda grabbed the second, 21-19. But the Husky pair retook control in the third set and closed it out, 15-9.
