Final Day of Husky Invite Brings Plethora of UW Wins

SEATTLE --- Washington's women's tennis team closed out the inaugural Husky Invitational on Sunday morning, cruising to eight singles victories and three doubles wins to close out the tournament.
The day started with doubles matches for the Huskies and UW made quick work in its three matches. Vanessa Wong and Natsuho Arakawa opened with a 6-2 victory over Mould/Eshet of Oregon. Delara Zamani and Ashley Chung followed with a 6-4 win in their match with Zoey Weil and Nika Zupancic winning 6-4 as well.
On the singles side, Zupancic downed Nicole Horacek of Idaho 6-1, 6-0 while Arakawa bested Melissa Hutchet 6-0, 6-3. Wong cruised to a quick win as well, beating Marta Magalhaes 6-2, 6-0, with Zamani cruising to a 6-2, 6-4 win and Weil downing Ilana Oleynik 6-1, 6-1.
Rounding out the singles, senior Katarina Kopcalic downed Andjela Todorovic 6-2, 6-0 with Ashley Chang coming from behind to win 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 in her match. Sedona Gallagher also scored a come back win, pulling out a 3-6, 6-0, 1-0 (10-2) victory.
Washington has just a little downtime, returning to action next week at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships hosted by Stanford October 18-22.
