Sellers Drops Career-High 30 In Tight Battle With Utah

SEATTLE – After a back-and-forth battle that saw nine lead changes, the Washington women's basketball team (7-4, 0-1 Big Ten) fell 67-57 to Utah (9-2, 0-0 Big 12) inside Alaska Airlines Arena Saturday night.
Sellers led the offensive charge for the Dawgs in dominant fashion, recording the first 30-point game of her career on an efficient 50 percent shooting (11-for-22). She also added a career-high eight rebounds to go along with two assists, two steals, and a block.
The sophomore was the first UW player to score 30+ since Amber Melgoza did it in the 2019-20 season (35).
Tayra Eke notched a season-high 14 points, including the first six points of the game for the Huskies, to go along with a game-high nine rebounds, and a team-high three assists.
The Dawgs outrebounded the Utes 37-32, the eighth time this season Washington has collected more than opponents on the glass.
Washington held Utah to 11 points in the opening frame and outscored the Utes 21-9 in the third quarter, holding a Utah team that entered tonight's game averaging 82.8 points per game, to 67.
Washington will host the Husky Classic next week before a brief break for the holidays – welcoming North Dakota State, Furman, and Boise State for the two-day tournament.
The Huskies will face North Dakota State on Wednesday, December 18 at 2 p.m. in Alaska Airlines Arena and then Furman on Thursday at 2 p.m.
The tournament will feature two neutral games at noon each day – Boise State versus Furman on Wednesday and Boise State versus North Dakota State Thursday.
Tickets purchased for the UW games of the Husky Classic will also give fans access to the neutral game that day.
