
Huskies Defeat No. 9 Oregon State On Senior Day

SEATTLE – Washington women's basketball (15-12, 5-11 Pac-12) took down No. 9 Oregon State (22-5, 11-5) 61-51 on Senior Day Sunday afternoon in Alaska Airlines Arena in front of an electric crowd.
Before the game, the Huskies celebrated seniors Lauren Schwartz and Nia Lowery, already starting off the day with good energy.
Elle Ladine got the game started with a steal and score, and the Huskies were off to a hot start going on an 8-0 run.
Washington came out fast and aggressive, with lots of energy on the floor and in the stands, and kept it going all game long.
UW went on another run to end the first quarter, going 6-0 to finish with a 14-5 lead.
The Huskies kept it going in the second quarter, and went into halftime up 24-17, holding the Beavers to 28.0% shooting from the field.
In the third quarter, both Ladine and Dalayah Daniels were in double-digit scoring. Ladine would finish the game leading all scorers with 23 points, just one point shy of her career high. Daniels finished with 15 points.
Sayvia Sellers was all over the floor again today, and finished with six points, four rebounds, and two blocks.
The Huskies showed a lot of poise among the fight, and went into the final frame up 44-33.
A jumper from Hannah Stines got the scoring started in the fourth quarter. Stines finished with eight points, two steals, and a team-leading eight rebounds.
Daniels recorded a steal late in the game for career steal No. 100.
Ladine drained back-to-back three-pointers, continuing to fire up the building. Schwartz hit a three to extend the lead to 10 with 1:28 left in the game.
Schwartz finished with seven points and three steals. Ladine also recorded six rebounds and two steals.
The Huskies held the Beavers to shooting 35.2% on the day, well below their season and conference average field goal percentages.
Oregon State is the third AP-ranked opponent Washington has defeated this season.
Next up, Washington caps off the regular season on the road at the Mountain Schools, heading first to No. 11 Colorado on Thursday, Feb. 29 and then to No. 18 Utah on Saturday, March 2.
