January 18, 2025 | Women's Basketball
SEATTLE – On a historic sellout Saturday afternoon inside Alaska Airlines Arena, UW honored Husky legend Kelsey Plum by lifting her No. 10 jersey into the rafters. Plum became the first Washington women's basketball player to have her jersey retired and sixth Husky overall, joining Bob Houbregs - MBB, Brandon Roy - MBB, Isaiah Thomas - MBB, Courtney Thompson - VB, and Krista Vansant – VB.
The Huskies capped the afternoon with their fourth conference win, coasting to an 87-58 win over Purdue (7-11, 0-7 Big Ten).
The Dawgs (13-6, 4-3 Big Ten) saw four players in double digits on the way to Washington's 29-point victory. UW's 87 points Saturday were the most by the program in a conference home game since 2017.
Sayvia Sellers went off for a game-high 24 points on 9-of-13 shooting (69.2 percent). She also added a game-high six assists and matched a career-high five three-pointers. This afternoon was the sophomore's third straight 20+ point game and eighth of the season.
Elle Ladine also shot an efficient 9-of-13 from the field, registering 21 points, three assists, two rebounds, a block, and a steal in 25 minutes of action.
Dalayah Daniels recorded her fifth double-double of the year, registering 14 points (5-of-6 shooting) and a game-high 10 rebounds, including her 800th career board.
Tayra Eke added 12 points and three rebounds for the Huskies.
Hannah Stines and Devin Coppinger each added seven points.
UW shot a season-high 62.5 percent from the field, the first time the Huskies have shot above 60 percent in a game since 2020 when the Dawgs shot 64.8 percent (35-for-54) against Portland.
This marked just the third time since the 2016-17 season the Huskies have shot 60 percent or higher.
The Huskies dominated in the paint against the Boilermakers, outscoring Purdue down low 42-16. UW converted 14 Purdue turnovers into 19 points and outrebounded the Boilermakers 31-20.
Washington led from wire-to-wire, jumping out to an 18-point lead (27-9) after 10 minutes. The Huskies went on to outscore Purdue 20-16 in the second and 26-19 in the third, securing their largest conference margin of victory this season.
The Huskies shot above 50 percent across all four quarters, including 61.1 percent (11-for-18) in the opening frame and a near seamless 78.6 percent (11-for-14) during the third.
Washington will welcome Iowa on Wednesday, Jan. 22 for the Huskies' Purple Out presented by Dick's Drive-In. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. in Alaska Airlines Arena. The game can be viewed on Peacock and fans can listen on 1090 KPTR-AM.
