November 23, 2025 | Women's Basketball
SEATTLE — Washington women's basketball (5-0, 0-0 Big Ten) took down Vermont (4-2, 0-0 America East) 71-39 in a Sunday afternoon showdown in Alaska Airlines Arena. The Huskies' defense was stifling, holding the Catamounts to their lowest point total of the season.
Washington has now played three games in which it held an opponent to 43 points or less.
UW limited the cross-country foe to virtually nothing in the second half, with Vermont recording just 19 points on 8-for-31 shooting. The Catamounts' shooting percentage (29.1%) was the lowest since they faced Albany on March 10, 2023.
Sayvia Sellers continued her splendid start to the season, finishing the contest with 22 points, four assists, and three rebounds. She has now recorded 15 games in her career in which she's scored 20 points or more. Three of those have come in the start to this season.
Brynn McGaughy also delivered a 20-point performance, while adding two rebounds and a block. She's the first Husky to record at least 20 points in one of the first five games of their collegiate career since Tameiya Sadler in 2020-21.
Hannah Stines recorded the second double-double of her career, notching 11 points and 10 rebounds against Vermont. Avery Howell was also cleaning up the boards, bringing down a career-high 12.
The Huskies finished with a +17 rebounding margin, pulling in 45 rebounds to the Catamounts' 28. 13 of those came on the offensive end, which Washington turned into 22 second chance points.
Washington has now begun its season 5-0 for the third time under head coach Tina Langley.
Next up, UW continues its homestand with a meeting against Southern on Tuesday, November 25th at 6:00 p.m. The game will air on B1G+.
