Washington Posts Three Event Season-Highs But Falls To No. 18 Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS – Washington recorded season-best scores on vault, bars, and beam but fell to No. 18 Minnesota 196.825-195.425 on Saturday at Maturi Pavilion.
The GymDawgs opened with a strong bars rotation, where Lana Navarro set the tone with a stuck dismount and a 9.750. Taylor Russon added a 9.800, while Mary McDonough led the way with a career-high 9.825. Washington closed the event with a season-best 48.850.
On vault, the Huskies matched their bars total with another season-high 48.850. Caitlin McWilliams (9.750) and Kira Bolden (9.775) each posted career highs, while McDonough led the event with a 9.800.
Washington entered the second half of the meet with a 97.700 total. McWilliams and Emily Innes led the way on floor, each scoring 9.800.
The GymDawgs capped the night with their best event, posting a season-high 49.150 on beam. Four Huskies scored 9.800 or higher, including Innes (9.800) and Olivia Oppegard, who earned a career-best 9.850. Beam specialist Chelsea Hallinan matched Oppegard's score, while Russon tied for the event title with a meet-high 9.875.
McDonough's consistency across all four events earned her the all-around title with a 38.950, securing her first all-around win of the season.
