February 15, 2025 | Women's Basketball
SEATTLE – The Washington women's basketball team (14-11, 5-8 Big Ten) will begin a two-game homestand with No. 6 USC on Sunday, Feb. 16 inside Alaska Airlines Arena.
Sunday's matchup will tipoff at 4 p.m. on Big Ten Network with A.J. Kanell (play-by-play) and Alyssa Charlston (analyst) on the call. Gary Hill will call the game on 950 KJR-AM.
The game against the Trojans will be the Pink Game for the Huskies, where fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game in honor of spreading awareness for breast cancer. The first 1,000 fans will receive a BECU beanie and pink ribbons and posters will be available while supplies last.
This will be the 76th all-time meeting between the Huskies and Trojans and the first as Big Ten opponents. The Dawgs won the most recent matchup last season in a 62-59 victory at home, but the Trojans have won eight of the last 10.
LAST TIME OUT
The Dawgs were defeated in a nailbiter in Eugene earlier this week, narrowly losing to Oregon in the final seconds, 68-67.
Three UW players reached double figures, guided by Sayvia Sellers who finished with 21 points, five assists, three rebounds, and three steals.
Dalayah Daniels added 17 points and six boards, while Elle Ladine put up 16 points and seven rebounds in the loss.
The Huskies have dropped their last two games -- at home vs. then-No. 16 Maryland and Oregon on the road in Eugene. Washington began conference play with two wins in its first three games but since then has lost seven of its last nine.
SCOUTING REPORT
No. 6 USC is 22-2 (12-1 in B1G), with its only two losses coming at the hands of Notre Dame in a 74-61 Fighting Irish win in November and a 76-69 upset by Iowa on Feb. 2.
The Trojans are coming off a 72-60 upset of previously undefeated No. 1 UCLA.
The Huskies are 38-37 all-time against Southern California and 21-13 inside Alaska Airlines Arena. The Trojans have taken eight of the last 10 matchups, with the last Dawg win over USC at home coming in a 75-66 win on Feb. 21, 2020.
Washington is 0-5 against ranked teams this season and will be the fourth Top-10 matchup. Washington has remained close with Top-10 teams, dropping games to then-No. 7 LSU, No. 1 UCLA, and then-No. 8 Ohio State by an average of just over seven points.
