
Huskies Earn Event Titles, Finish Second in Illinois Tri-Meet

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — The GymDawgs finished second in Saturday afternoon's tri-meet against No. 21 Illinois and Illinois State.
Washington opened on bars with standout performances from Mary McDonough and Taylor Russon. McDonough scored a 9.850 to set the tone, while Russon followed with an impressive 9.900 to earn a share of the bar title.
On beam, Olivia Oppegard led the GymDawgs with a 9.850, matching her career high. Kristin Lin also delivered a strong routine, earning a personal-best 9.750.
In rotation three, the Huskies took to the floor, where McDonough and Emily Innes each posted a 9.925, earning a share of the floor title. McDonough's score marked a new career high, while Innes matched her season best.
Washington closed out the meet on vault. Caitlin McWilliams posted a season-best 9.750, followed by Emily Innes, who tied her season best with a 9.900. Mary McDonough anchored the rotation with a 9.800.
