SEATTLE – For the first time since 2019, the Washington women's tennis team (20-4, 11-2 Big Ten) will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament on Montlake this weekend.
In the first round, the 16-seed Huskies will face No. 74 Stetson, the first time in program history these two teams have met.
"We are excited to get the NCAA tournament started and so proud of the team for their consistent effort all season to put us in a position to host the first two rounds here at home," said Head Coach Robin Stephenson. "We have put together a great regular season and we have been training and preparing to peak at this time of the year, and I definitely feel like we are playing our best tennis right now. The girls are sharp and have the right mindset and are playing with freedom and confidence. I'm eager to see what we can do in this tournament and am confident that we will leave everything out there for every match and hopefully will have a lot of hometown support this weekend to help us get through."
The winner of Washington vs. Stetson will advance to the second round on Saturday to play the winner of Cal/Sacramento State at 1 p.m. either in Nordstrom Tennis Center or Bill Quillian Tennis Stadium.
After the second round, teams will advance to the NCAA Super Regionals on campus sites from May 9-11. Baylor will then host the remainder of the NCAA Championships from May 15-18, which will include quarterfinal, semifinal, and final action at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.
Admission is free to all first and second round action inside Nordstrom Tennis Center or at the outdoor courts of Bill Quillian Tennis Stadium.
