EUGENE, Ore. -- Five former Huskies advanced on day one of the USATF Outdoor Championships held at Hayward Field in Eugene today. The five included a pair of senior school record-holders from the 2025 squad, as Kyle Reinheimer advanced to the 800m semis, while Nathan Green punched his ticket to the 1500m final.
Reinheimer ran 1:46.90 to advance out of the 800m first rounds, and he'll be joined in the semis by former Husky Cass Elliott, who also advanced with a 1:47.51 time. They'll race on Friday at 4:42 p.m. to try and reach the final.
In the men's 1,500-meters, UW's three national champion milers -- Green, Joe Waskom, and Luke Houser -- all made the final once again. Green, now running professionally for adidas, was the fastest of the bunch, turning in the second-fastest time of his career in 3:33.17, just barely short of the World Championships Standard. Waskom and Houser had the final two time qualifying spots, with Waskom running 3:34.58 and Houser 3:34.64. Also making the final was former UW volunteer assistant Sam Prakel, who also trains under Head Coach Andy Powell. Prakel ran 3:33.08, a new PR.
The men's 1500m final is set for Saturday at 2:14 p.m.
Rising senior Chloe Foerster had the top time out of three Husky women in the 1,500m first round today, but it was not quite enough to advance. Foerster was 18th overall, running 4:09.62. Senior Claire Yerby placed 25th overall in 4:11.89, and 2016 grad Eleanor Fulton was 21st in 4:10.94.
Senior Maggie Liebich raced her first USAs in the steeplechase today; she was 16th overall in 9:55.14. And class of '21 Julius Diehr ran the men's steeple and was 26th in a time of 8:50.88.
