Huskies Take Every Set From Pilots In Exhibition

SEATTLE β One week away from the season opener, the Husky volleyball team took a dry run on its home court against Portland, and looked regular season ready. Washington won all four sets played against the Pilots in front of a thousand supportive Dawg fans at Alaska Airlines Arena.

Several new Huskies got their first action in front of the home fans tonight, with senior transfers Alexa Markley and Taylor Simpson making big impacts at outside hitter and setter, respectively, and freshman Ava Jo Berry keeping several rallies alive by diving around the court.

Washington took the first set, 25-17, won set two by three points at 25-22, and then took the third, 25-19. The teams had agreed to go four no matter the score, so UW earned another 25-19 win to wrap things up.

The Huskies will have two weeks on the road before coming back to Hec Ed for the home opener on Sept. 12 against Arizona. First it is off to Colorado, where the Huskies will open in Greeley against Northern Colorado on Friday, Aug. 29. One day later the Huskies will be at Colorado State in Fort Collins before going back to Greeley for a neutral match with Colgate on Sunday, Aug. 31.
