Women No. 8, Men No. 21 In Preseason Poll
August 26, 2025 | Cross Country
SEATTLE – The recent Seattle heat doesn't indicate that the fall is right around the corner, but the USTFCCCA Cross Country Preseason Rankings gives a better hint. The first coaches poll for the 2025 season was rolled out today, with both Husky teams ranking in the Top-25.
Last season, both UW cross country teams finished second at the Big Ten Championships and advanced to nationals where the women finished 13th overall and the men finished 16th overall.
This fall, the women are starting off five spots above that final finish, however the men were slotted five spots lower. The women are preseason No. 8 nationally, and the men are ranked No. 21. The women are second among Big Ten squads behind preseason No. 2 Oregon, and the men are third in the Big Ten behind No. 5 Wisconsin and No. 9 Oregon.
Washington will have a season-opening rust-busting workout at Magnuson Park next Tuesday, Sept. 2, in a dual meet format with Seattle U. before diving into a big training block. The first major race for each team will be the Loyola Lakefront Invite in Chicago on Oct. 3.
