
Huskies Host No. 8 Michigan In Big Ten Clash

SCOUTING THE WOLVERINES
Michigan shot up the rankings this week after taking down then-No. 1 Indiana on the road. The Wolverines used a 3-2 scoreline to earn the win in Bloomington. Michigan is 4-0-2 on the season, owning a 3-0-1 record at home and a 1-0-1 record on the road. They are led by Kyle Pierson, Shuma Sasaki, and Quin Rogers who each have two goals so far. Pierson and Sasaki both lead the team with five points each.
SERIES HISTORY
The Huskies own a 2-0-1 record against Michigan dating back to a 3-2 win for in 2003 as the first matchup. Most recently, Washington battled to a 1-1 draw with the Wolverines in Ann Arbor last season.
LAST MEETING (9/16/2024)
ANN ARBOR, Mich. β Washington men's soccer recorded its first Big Ten point in a 1-1 draw at No. 22 Michigan on Monday night.
UW moves to 3-2-3 and 0-1-1 in Big Ten play. The Huskies have earned a result in six of their last seven matches.
This year, the Huskies are 2-1-2 against the Top 25. In the past six seasons, the Huskies are 14-3-6 against ranked opponents in the regular season. The Dawgs are 27-8-10 in road contests since 2019.
Michigan jumped out to an early lead in the sixth minute.
The Huskies responded quickly to knot the match up at one on Peter Kingston's second goal of the season in the ninth minute of action. Chris Meyers recorded his team-leading fifth assist of the season.
Connor Lofy made his first career start, totaling 70 minutes in the match. Chris Peretti saw his first minutes of the season in his start.
Goalie Jadon Bowton recorded three saves on the evening and faced a season-high 12 shots.
HUSKIES TOP BULLDOGS
Washington earned another big win on Tuesday, taking down Gonzaga 6-0. It was the third time the Huskies have scored at least four goals in a game this season. Charlie Kosakoff opened the scoring with his third goal in the last two games. Alex Hall bagged his first career brace, while Mani Diop, Chad Sovde, and Zach Ramsey all found the back of the net as well. Richie Aman was the key distributor, as he recorded two assists in the game.
ON TOP IN B1G OPENER
Washington moved to 1-0 in Big Ten play on Friday after a 2-1 win over Michigan State at Husky Soccer Stadium. Charlie Kosakoff used his first career brace to dismantle the Spartans. He also tallied four shots, all of which were on goal to lead Washington to seven total attempts on target.
FEWING CUP SUCCESS
Washington unleashed a barrage of goals to keep the Fewing Cup on Montlake, tallying seven goals against Seattle U for a 7-2 victory on Capitol Hill. It's the first time Washington has bagged at least seven goals since a 7-0 win on October 8, 2000 against California.
Zach Ramsey led the Huskies with a brace, scoring the game-winning goal in the first half before netting a free kick goal in the second half. Richie Aman registerred two assists while five other Huskies, Harrison Bertos, Connor Lofy, Clarens Dollin, Chad Sovde, and Egor Akulov found the back of the net.
KOSAKOFF NAMED BIG TEN OFFENSIVE POTW
Charlie Kosakoff claimed his first Big Ten Conference weekly award on Tuesday after powering Washington to its first Big Ten win last week. The award is Washington's first conference weekly award of the season.
Kosakoff has been an offensive leader for the Huskies this season, now the joint leader in goals (3) and game-winning goals (1), and pacing the team in shots (17) and shots on goal (7).
RAMSEY RUNNING RAMPANT
Sophomore Zach Ramsey recorded his first career brace against Seattle U and continued his scorching hot streak. He has recorded at least one point in five of the last six games, totaling 11 points during that stretch. He leads all Huskies in total points.
OFFENSIVE OPPORTUNITIES
The Huskies have been applying the pressure in every game this season, recording more shots than their opponents in all but two games.Β The Huskies currently rank 9th in the NCAA in corner kicks per game, averaging 7.00 per contest. The Huskies have scored 23 total goals, led by Zach Ramsey and Charlie Kosakoff each with four.
FIVE POINT BARRAGE
Alex Hall dominated against the Bulldogs on Tuesday, bagging his first career brace while chipping in an assist for a career-high five points. He now has seven points on the season and has at least one point in each of the last three games.
WASHINGTON STATS
Washington has rocketed into the statistical national rankings, Sitting in the top 15 in eight different categories.
Until UIC recorded their 24th goal on Thursday, Washington was leading the NCAA in total goals scored with 23 following Tuesday's 6-0 win over Gonzaga. Nationally, Washington currently ranks second in total goals (23), fourth in total points (66), eighth in total assists (20), eighth in goal differential (13), ninth in corner kicks per game (7.00), ninth in scoring offense (2.88), 10th in points per game (8.25), and 14th in assists per game (2.50).
FINDING THEIR GROOVE
Since opening the season with two losses and one goal through the first two games, the Huskies have rattled off six unbeaten, coming from four wins and two draws. In that span, the Huskies have scored 22 goals, averaging 3.67 goals per game.
TOP DISTRIBUTORS
Richie Aman, Zach Ramsey, and Alex Hall have separated themselves as some of the best distributors in the NCAA. Aman currently ranks at the top of the charts with six assists, the most in the nation. He's averaging 0.75 assists per game, the second-best mark in the Big Ten and 11th in the NCAA. Ramsey and Hall are tied for fourth in the Big Ten and 43rd nationally with three assists each.
Washington as a team ranks eighth in the NCAA and second in the Big Ten in total assists with 20.
DAWG DEBUTS
12 Huskies have made their Washington debuts in the first two matches of the season. Levi Bieber, Brecken Bowers, Cameron Cruz, Clarens Dollin, Jaeger Felton, Carter Gay, Osato Enabulele, Sheehan Ganguly, Philip Kleeman, Zack Meier, and Kevin Hernandez, and Chad Sovde all featured during the first four games of the season.
BRICK WALL BIEBER
Levi Bieber has made four starts this season and has led Washington to two shutouts and a 2-1-1 record in those games.
In his second career appearance, Levi Bieber recorded his first win and shutout. He anchored the Washington defense against UNLV, recording two saves on six shots faced to secure the victory. He made two key saves against Gonzaga to help earn Washington's second shutout of the season. Jaeger Felton closed out the final 9:59 of the game to give both keepers the combined shutout in goal.
PICKED FIFTH IN CONFERENCE
Entering year two in the Big Ten conference, Washington has been picked to place fifth in the 11-team league, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Washington finished 8-6-7 last season, advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Huskies ended the season with a 4-3-3 record in Big Ten play, finishing fourth in the league with 15 points.

CLARK INKS EXTENSION
Following UW's first season in the Big 10 and their 11th NCAA Tournament appearance in the last 14 years, head coach Jamie Clark signed an extension at the University of Washington, tying him to the Huskies through 2029.
Washington has become a postseason regular under Clark and has consistently earned results in the national tournament. The Huskies secured their ninth second round appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2024 after advancing out of a penalty shootout against Seattle U.
In 2021, Clark guided the Dawgs to a national runner up finish, the best result in program history, while also tying the program record for wins in a season with 18. The Huskies have finished with at least eight wins in 13 of Clark's 14 at the helm and have claimed at least 12 wins 11 times since his appointment as head coach.
HOMEGROWN TALENT
Washington's roster features 19 of 29 players who hail from the state of Washington. Four players claim Seattle as their hometown (Asher Hestad, Joe Dale, Cameron Cruz, and Jaeger Felton), while two each are from Spokane (Kenny Pierpoint and Jadon Bowton), and from Bellevue (Sheehan Ganguly and Chad Sovde).
BETWEEN THE STICKS
Washington returns goalkeeper Jadon Bowton for the 2025 season who figures to be instrumental for the Husky defense. He was named Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week twice in 2024 and led Washington to the second round of the NCAA Tournament after making three penalty saves in a row against Seattle U in the first round.
His eight shutouts in 2024 were the ninth-most in the NCAA and the sixth-most in a single season in Husky history He also has participated in mental health activations for UW. Following his fifth year of soccer this fall, he plans to begin working a tech job in Seattle.
DEFENSIVE DOMINANCE
Junior defender Harrison Bertos made 20 starts in 2024 and helped UW to top-50 marks in the NCAA in goals against average and shutout percentage.
Bertos was selected in the second round of the MLS SuperDraft, but decided to return to Washington for his junior season in 2025.
CREAM OF THE CROP
In 14 season on Montlake, Jamie Clark has orchestrated the meteoric rise of Washington men's soccer, distinguishing the team as one of the nation's top college soccer programs. During his time at Washington, Clark has led the Huskies to a record of 175-68-40, three Pac-12 titles, and 11 trips to the NCAA Tournament. Of those postseason appearances, Clark's Huskies have made four trips to the NCAA Quarterfinals, including three straight NCAA Quarterfinals appearances from 2019-21.
Clark currently ranks seventh in winning percentage among active head coaches with a .696 percentage in 17 career seasons.
FRESH FACESΒ
The Huskies welcomed six freshmen to the squad this fall. Kenny Pierpoint (GK), Clarens Dollin (MF/F), Carter Gay (D), Kevin Hernandez (MF), Zack Meier (D), and Osato Enabulele (MF) all enter their first season on Montlake. In addition to the first years, the Huskies also welcomed Cameron Cruz (MF), a transfer from Grand Canyon to the squad.
