Dawgs Overcome Red Card To Earn Scoreless Draw At Indiana
September 25, 2025 | Women's Soccer
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Washington women's soccer team overcame a second half sudden change in Thursday night's matchup at Indiana, defending a red card in the 66th minute to earn a scoreless draw at Bill Armstrong Stadium.
Husky keeper Tanner Ijams delivered her fourth clean sheet of the season, stopping three of the six shots aimed at her goal on the night.
While Washington spent a large portion of the first half defending its own goal, Kelsey Branson produced arguably the best look of the first half. The senior rose high on a Jadyn Holdenried corner service in the 24th minute, sending a header with pace towards the goal but too near the keeper.
The Hoosiers led UW in shots, 5-2, at the break but it was Washington that came out the aggressor in the second half.
The Huskies were by far on the front foot throughout the early minutes of the second 45, with Kalea Eichenberger, Alex Buck and Branson all creating dangerous threats in the attacking zone.
While Anna Menti's sending off for the denial of an obvious goal scoring opportunity in the 66th shifted the tenor of the match, the Huskies still created the better looks down the stretch.
Samiah Shell conjured likely the best look of the night in the 80th minute, finding herself unmarked in the far side of the box. Shell gathered the ball aiming to beat the keeper at the near post but was unable to keep her shot on frame.
UW continued to pressure all the way until the final whistle but neither side was able to break through, splitting the points.
