ST ANDREWS, Scotland – The Washington women's golf team wrapped up stroke play today at the Jubilee Course in St. Andrews, concluding the St. Andrews Links Collegiate with a +41 mark after two rounds of play.
Hannah Ounap led the Huskies in just her third collegiate start, earning Co-Champion honors alongside Texas' Farah O'Keefe as the pair finished the round -2, the only two players who put up an under-par performance. Ounap and O'Keefe became the first ever co-champions of the St. Andrews Links Collegiate.
The elements were certainly at play on Tuesday, with the wind and rain playing a factor on the Jubilee Course. The Dawgs finished play in third place at 41-over par over two rounds and will play against Penn (+52) on Wednesday in the consolation match.
Texas finished the tournament in first with a +15 mark and St. Andrews recorded a +38.
"Incredible! That's the only way to describe the day!" said Head Coach Anna Temple. "We got to experience links golf in true Scottish style - windy, rainy, sunny - just awesome!"
Ounap's first ever collegiate title included a 6-under 66 in the opening round and a 76 second round with eight birdies, an eagle and 19 pars.
"The team got off to a solid start however our finish was a bit rough," Temple said. "On the flip side, Hannah had another solid round and was co-champion! It was an absolute treat to see her win her first title as a Dawg! Tomorrow we will compete on the Old Course in medal match against Penn and we're looking for another great opportunity to compete!"
Mads Smith finished second on the team and tied for 12th overall with an 11-over par performance.
Ha Young Chang moved up steadily on the leaderboard from day one, finishing in a tie for 15th at 12-over par.
Wendy Tang finished matched for 17th at 13-over par, while Athena Ni (+14) and Amber Li (+15) rounded out the Husky lineup.
Wednesday's medal match round will be televised on the Golf Channel starting at 6 a.m. PT and live scoring will be available at this link.
