Washington MBB Drops Exhibition Matchup At Boise State
October 17, 2026 | Men's Basketball
BOISE, Idaho – Playing in its first of two exhibitions before the start of the regular season, the Washington men's basketball team fell behind early in the first half and were never able to fully climb back, falling 109-91 to Boise State at Idaho Central Arena.
Despite a tough start from the field, the Huskies finished with respectable shooting percentages on the night, finishing at 51.0 percent overall and 40.7 percent from behind the arc.
However, free throws proved a pivotal factor on both ends for UW. The Huskies converted just 28-of-46 from the charity stripe and committed 36 fouls accounting for 30 Bronco points at the line. All five members of UW's starting five fouled out in the game.
LeJuan Watts finished one rebound shy of a double double to lead Washington offensively with 16 points, sharing the team high in scoring with Tayshawn Comer, who converted 10-of-12 from the free throw line.
Parker Friedrichsen knocked down 3-of-5 attempts from distance in the game, while also matching Watts and Comer for the team high with three assists.
Washington dug itself into a hole early in the first half due to sloppy play in the open court, falling behind 20-5 just under seven minutes into the game.
The deficit would grow to its largest point of 21 with under two to play in the opening period, but the Huskies closed on a 10-2 run to narrow the gap heading into the break, capped by a long-distance, running buzzer beater from Tayshawn Comer, sending the Huskies into the half with momentum despite trailing 52-39.
The Broncos briefly rebuilt their lead to open the second half but UW exploded on a 13-0 run on eight-straight makes from the field, cutting the deficit to single digits at 68-63 with 12 minutes to play.
However, the Huskies would get no closer as Boise State pushed its lead back to double digits shortly thereafter and were able to hold the Dawgs at bay for the rest of the night.
Washington will return home for another exhibition next Sunday, Oct. 25, hosting Washington State for a 1:00 p.m. tipoff at Alaska Airlines Arena. The game will be available for streaming through B1G+.
