Jadyn Glab scored the first run of the game, followed by Ava Carroll who scored from third thanks to a Bubke singled to shallow center.
Alvarez provided the third run for the Husky, capitalizing on Cougar mistakes early on.
BYU cut the Husky lead to 3-2, notching two homers in the bottom of the first.
Acevedo scored the next run for Washington, as Glab registered an RBI single to bring in the freshman.
BYU scored another run in the third, but it was the last Cougar score of the afternoon as Washington held them scoreless the next four innings.
