
Matsuda Named B1G Co-Player Of The Week

SEATTLE – For the second time during the 2025-26 season, Erika Matsuda has been named Big Ten Player of the Week, the conference announced today.
Matsuda helped Washington women's tennis improve to 11-0 on the season with three ranked individual wins. The Huskies are off to the best start in program history.
Alongside doubles partner Carina Syrtveit, the duo had a win against the 62nd-ranked doubles pair from Rutgers, 6-3, to clinch the doubles point. They also clinched the Maryland doubles point with a 6-3 win over the 23rd-ranked pair. Matsuda and Syrtveit are 9-1 on the No. 1 doubles court this season and 3-1 against ranked opponents.
In singles, Matsuda clinched the match win over No. 49 Maryland on Sunday with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over the 89th-ranked singles player. She is 5-0 in singles this season on the No. 1 court and currently ranked 64th in the ITA singles rankings.
No. 17 Washington returns to the court on Saturday at No. 67 Oregon. The match begins at noon from the Student Tennis Center.
