SEATTLE – The No. 17 Washington softball team (24-6, 7-0 Big Ten) defeated Michigan Friday night 9-7, taking its seventh straight Big Ten victory and first conference win on the road.

Morgan Reimer earned her 15^th win of the year, and the Wolverine defense committed a season-high four errors.

The Huskies were led by Ava Carroll, who went 3-for-3 with three singles on the night. Her first single in the top of the first brought in Giselle Alvarez and Jadyn Glab to put the Huskies up first on the scoreboard.

Michigan scored one in the bottom of the second and then took the lead 3-2 in the bottom of the third on a two-RBI double.

Kaycie Burdick earned her first of two hits on the night on an RBI single with the bases loaded in the top of the fourth, bringing in Carroll.

Alexis DeBoer singled to center field, once again with the bases loaded, to score Melody Acevedo.

Giselle Alvarez recorded a sacrifice fly to score Jade Bubke for the fifth Husky run of the game.

A Wolverine stole home in the bottom of the fourth to cut the UW lead to one, 5-4.

A Carroll RBI single scored pinch runner Jing Gardner in the top of the fifth but Michigan countered with another score in the bottom half of the inning with a sacrifice fly.

Acevedo reached first on a Michigan throwing error that scored two more runs in Glab and Tia Durst to expand the score to a Dawg 8-5 lead.

Michigan stuck around the whole way, notching the first home run of the game in the bottom of the sixth.

Alvarez, who finished 2-for-4 on the night, shot a single to left field to bring in the final Husky run.

Another Wolverine sent a homer to left field in the bottom of the final inning, but it wasn't enough as the Huskies clung on for a 9-7 victory.

Washington and Michigan face off in game two of the series Saturday at 11 a.m. PT/2 p.m. ET at Hutchins Stadium.
