Burdick, Ramuno Collect Big Ten Weekly Honors

SEATTLE – After a 4-0 week on the road and extending a win streak to 20 games, the Huskies have garnered two Big Ten weekly awards, the conference announced Monday.
Sophia Ramuno has been named the Big Ten's Co-Pitcher of the Week and Kaycie Burdick is the conference Freshman of the Week following standout performances on Washington's Midwest road trip.
Ramuno picked up two wins last week, a shutout at Loyola Chicago and a combined no-hitter at Iowa.
Across both appearances, Ramuno registered a 0.00 ERA, a 0.60 WHIP and a 0.79 opponent batting average in 11.2 innings pitched. In the two Washington wins, the senior recorded 18 strikeouts, three hits and four walks.
Ramuno threw 5.2 innings in UW's six-inning run-rule victory in game two of the Iowa series on the way to the combined no-hitter, notching two walks and six strikeouts.
The San Diego, Calif. native is 8-2 on the season. She's tied with a team-high 83 strikeouts and a team-best 1.01 WHIP, which is tied for second-best in the Big Ten.
Burdick, who leads the team with a .435 batting average (6th-best in the Big Ten), has played in 34 of 36 of Washington's games this season with 30 starts. In Washington's four games last week, one at Loyola Chicago and a three-game sweep at Iowa, Burdick batted .526 (10-of-19) with seven RBI.
The Pleasanton, Calif. native recorded her first career home run of the season at Loyola Chicago, a grand slam that helped the Huskies passed Loyola 7-0.
In Washington's 10-inning victory in game three of the Iowa series, Burdick started the game 4-for-4, a career-high.
