High School:Β Ari Long joins the Huskies from Moreno Valley, California, after a remarkable career at Valley View High School. Long recorded over 3,000 points as an Eagle, set numerous program records, and received national awards. She finished her senior year as the number 46 prospect in the ESPN 100.
At Valley View, Long established herself as a playmaker on both ends of the floor, averaging 28.0 points, 4.4 assists, 12.4 rebounds, 4.1 steals, and 2.0 blocks for her career. She garnered national attention her senior year, scoring 1,021 total points, leading the state in scoring average with a career-high 35.2 PPG, and recording career-high marks in shooting percentage (47%) and EFG (54%). Long also recorded a double-double in 28 of her last 29 games and ended her season on games of 61 (career-high), 54, and 52 points. In aggregate, she finished her career with 3,084 points (school record), 366 made threes, 1320 rebounds (school record), 468 assists, 439 steals, and 216 blocksβall program records for the Eagles. Led by Long, the Eagles would win two CIF SS Ivy League titles (2019 and 2022) and achieve an 82-26 record between 2019 and 2023.
Unsurprisingly, Longβs effort on the court led to state and national honors. As an Eagle, Long was a three-time Ivy League MVP and four-time First Team All-Ivy League. In 2022 and 2023, she was named First-Team All-CIF SS (Division I) and named First-Team All-State by SBLive. She also received the 2023 Inland Empire Basketball Outstanding Performance Award alongside Husky teammate Chloe Briggs. Long was named a 2023 McDonaldβs All-American Games Nominee and one of fifty girls on the 2023 Jersey Mikeβs Naismith Girls High School Player of the Year Watchlist. Outside fo Valley View, Long competed for the Cal Stars AAU program.Β
Personal:Β Ari is the daughter of Leigh Ann and Jim Long, who both played basketball at Western New Mexico University and currently coach at Valley View High School. Ari is also the second youngest of 5 sistersβTaylor, Jalen, RyLeigh, and Mason. Taylor and Jalen played Division II basketball at Colorado State-Pueblo University, and her older sister Ryleigh competed at the NAIA level for Arizona Christian University.
In her free time, Ari loves connecting with friends and friendly competitions in any sport! Ari is currently undecided about her major but looks forward to one day playing professional basketball.
