
Volleyballers Open with Win

CHICAGO - The Washington volleyball team opened the 1999 season with a 3-0 sweep over Illinois-Chicago Wednesday evening. Game scores were 15-8, 15-9 and 15-12.
The Huskies (1-0) were led by 15 kills from sophomore Lisa Underhill. Sophomore Allison Richardson and junior Emily Seacat added 12 kills each as Washington hit .277 for the match. Senior Kristina Laffling posted a match-high 17 digs and also recorded six blocks.
The Flames, also 1-0, got 12 kills from Hilarie Hernandez and 10 from Kelly Colangelo.
This Friday and Saturday, the Huskies will be in Normal, Ill., to face Illinois State, Rhode Island and No. 9 Wisconsin in the Illinois State Classic.
