Husky Gymnasts Drop Season-Opener at Stanford

Stanford, CA - The Washington women's gymnastics team dropped its season opener at Stanford by a score of 193.925 to 191.075. The Cardinal, led by Lindsay Wing, won all four event titles. Washington was led by sophomore Emily Pritchard, who captured the all-around with a score of 38.925. It was Pritchard's first all-around win in her career.
Wing finished first for Stanford in the bars (9.775), beam (9.825) and floor (9.775). Cardinal teammate Becky Meldrum tied Wing for first-place on bars. Stanford's Caroline Fluhrer took first on vault (9.875).
Pritchard's scoring including a second-place finish on vault (9.825) and a third-place score on bars (9.700). Washington's other top finishers included a second-place showing by Allison Bruce on beam (9.775) and by Molly Seaman on floor (9.700). Seaman was also third in the all-around at 38.200.
Three Washington freshmen and one transfer competed for the first time for the Huskies. Carly Dockendorf topped that group with a fifth-place finish on vault with a score of 9.700.
Washington travels to Boise State on Friday, Jan. 25 for its second meet of the season. The Huskies home opener is set for Jan. 27 against California.
