Husky Golfers Move Up to 7th at Pac-10 Championships

Corvallis, OR - The 11th-ranked Washington men's golf team turned in a third round score of 362 to move into a tie for seventh place at the Pac-10 Championships at Oregon State's Trysting Tree Golf Club. The Huskies' score was the lowest by any team during the third round of play. Washington is tied with UCLA at 1110. Oregon State and Stanford lead the field at 1083 followed by Southern California in third place at 1085. The 72-hole tournament, which concludes Saturday, uses a five-man scoring format.
In the race for medalist honors, Stanford's Jim Seki shot even-par 72 on Friday to hold a two-stroke lead at 6-under 210. Teammate Philip Rowe and Oregon State's Michael Jurgensen are tied for second place at 4-under 212. Washington sophomore Brock Mackenzie carded a 2-under 70 during Friday's play to move into seventh place at 215.
Husky junior Derek Berg shot 69 during the third round to move into 27th place at 222. John Robertson is 29th at 223, Dan Potter is 33rd at 224, Corey Prugh is 48th at 228 and Conner Robbins is 55th at 232 for the Huskies.
Washington entered the third round in last place, 10 strokes behind ninth-place California. The Huskies average score during Thursday's first 36 holes was 75.42. Washington lowered that average 73.12 per round on Friday.
