
Washington Volleyball Wins Northwest Classic

BOISE, Idaho - The third-ranked Washington volleyball team (8-0) defeated Boise State (9-2) in three games, 30-16, 30-18, 30-18, to win the Northwest Classic title.
The Huskies out hit the Broncos .327 to -.033 and held the 12.5 to 3.0 advantage in blocks. UW had 47 kills, 41 assists, six aces and 42 digs.
Washington was led by Sanja Tomasevic who had 18 kills, three blocks and a team-best .486 hitting percentage. Brie Hagerty chipped in 12 kills for the Huskies and Christal Morrison and Darla Myhre each tallied six kills.
UW setter Courtney Thompson had another solid performance with 39 assists and seven digs.
Candace Lee and Danka Danicic anchored the Washington defense with 12 and 10 digs, respectively. Myhre notched eight block assists, while Morrison recorded seven.
Boise State was led by Cameron Flunder's eight kills and Jackie Stroud's 10 digs. The Broncos had 30 kills, 28 assists, four aces and 43 digs.
Named to the Boise State Northwest Challenge All-Tournament Team were - MVP Courtney Thompson (Washington), Brie Hagerty (Washington), Christal Morrison (Washington), Sanja Tomasevic (Washington), Cameron Flunder (Boise State), and Audrey Thompson (Montana).
Washington opens the Pacific-10 season next week when it travels to Los Angeles to face No. 6 UCLA and No. 2 USC, Sept. 24-25.
