University of Washington vs. UCLA Post-Game Coach's Quotes
Lorenzo Romar General Comments: "There have been a lot of victories this year, where we could find something that we were very pleased about, other than the win. Tonight, we played against a very good basketball team and shot 37% from the field and still won the game by double digits. It was not a particularly fast paced game, it's something that makes us really proud of our guys, to come out and do that. I thought our guys did a great job, Bobby Jones had a great night, Brandon Roy was very good, and made big plays for us. I thought, defensively, we did a very good job of containment on the ball. Jordan Farmar is one of the best point guards in this league, and I thought we did a good job against him."
On Bobby Jones: "I could have gone to the last UCLA game, watched how he reacted, not seen him for a month, and I would have known that he would come back and play well. He's a competitor, he's playing with energy, he's a really good basketball player."
On Brandon Roy: "Sensational, Brandon had another double-double, a solid double-double. Our guys did a good job of finding him in positions where he was really effective, he really helped us out. Thirteen rebounds, twenty points and five assists is a heck of a night."
"When he was out, many asked `what does he bring to the table', and `what are you missing', and I constantly call him a provider, he just give you what you need. Tonight it was rebounds, he set people up, he got easy shots and he scored. He was a mismatch problem tonight. Next game it will be a different game, different personnel, and he'll find other ways to provide for this team."
On Brandon Roy's Knee: "He still has to ice, and I'm sure he'll rest it tomorrow. But I think we've seen that he has played for consecutive games without it being a problem."
On Brandon Roy's Block: "That was huge, it appeared (Farmar) had a breakaway shot, and for (Roy) to run like that, and come up with that block, that always serves as an inspiration to your team. Wherever you are, it lifts you up, at that point. That was a big play."
On Beating UCLA: "I think from a competitive standpoint it was important, because you want to win ballgames. But as far as some sort of haunted spooky situation, or a curse, I don't think that is an issue."
