Head Coach June Daugherty:
Opening Statement: "It was what we expected from Oregon State. I have to give some credit to them, they just ran hard and played a lot of minutes out there. We expected that and that is the kind of game that we got. Now it's over and we are looking forward to our Saturday game against Oregon. It's the biggest game of the year and it should be exciting on our seniors last home game."
On halftime speech: "I was just at the point where I just gave the girls one of those talks. I thought we needed to play better defensively and just step up and get into the game. We need to play Husky basketball. The other thing was that I just felt like we weren't that strong with our put-backs inside."
On winning during a roller coaster season: "It certainly feels great to win. We just played a couple of games on the road against some good teams at their house. We played pretty well last week, but we needed to come out and get a win against Oregon State. We played well tonight with a lot of intensity. I was real surprised when we got up 20 points, because they are in every ballgame."
On running a fast-paced offense: "It starts with Emily getting the ball moving. She definitely has a huge challenge being the one guard. Mercedes (Fox-Griffin) is a tough player to guard and she's a competitor. We just got back into our offense and when we built up that lead we just slowed things down and tried to take some time off the clock. I thought that in the second half we did a much better job of getting down the lanes."
On Maggie O'Hara: "She's a great kid. You talk about a player who basically has to be our Super Man. It's never about scoring, it's about defensive stops, charges and hustle plays. Every hustle play that Maggie is in, it seems like we come out a winner."
GUARD Emily Florence
On team defensive play: "I think that we were all a little disappointed with our defense, because that is something that we work on all the time. You have to play good defense to win ball games. I think we did a lot better of a job in the second half with getting up on them and applying the pressure while we closed down some of those lanes."
On leading the charge for the Huskies: "It is so much fun getting out and running with this team. I love pushing the ball and getting easy baskets. It's easy for me to get the ball so all of these players because we have so many people out there that can score."
On Oregon: "That is going to be the biggest game of the year for us. We have to start thinking about them right now. They are a really good team and we need to be ready to face them on Saturday. That would be a huge win for us if we can get out there and beat them."
