Oregon senior Joey Benedetti leads the field for the second day in a row with a two-round 6-under 138 (69-69). Benedetti has never won a college tournament. His best collegiate finish is a second-place showing at the 2008 Duck Invitational in March.
Two golfers finished round two with a tournament low 4-under 68: Phillip Mollica (Clemson) and Dan Woltman (Wisconsin). Woltman is in second place with a two-round 5-under 139 after shooting seven birdies today. Mollica is tied for 12th place with a two-round even-par 144. Mollica shot birdies on two holes that he double bogied yesterday, he now leads the tournament with 12 birdies in the first two rounds. Woltman is second with 11 birdies through 36 holes.
Washington's Nick Taylor is in third place with a two-round 4-under 140 after shooting a 3-under 69 today.
Six golfers are tied for sixth place with a two-round 1-under 143, and all are from the Pac-10 (one from ASU, two from UCLA, two from USC, and one from Oregon), and nine of the top-11 individuals play for a Pac-10 school.
Top-seeded USC enters the final round of play atop the leaderboard with a two-round 2-under 574. The Trojans scored a 5-under 283 today to capture first place.
Oregon is in second place in the team standings with a 3-over 579, while Clemson is in third place with a 4-over 580. Five of the top-six teams are members of the Pac-10 (USC, Oregon, UCLA, Washington, Arizona State).
Four golfers shot eagles today, Cale Barr (Kentucky), Vincent Johnson (Oregon State), Dale Smith (San Diego) and Nathan Stamey (UNC-Greensboro). All four round 2 eagles came on hole 6.
