Taylor, Huskies Lead After Two Rounds

STANFORD, Calif. - After two rounds of the U.S. Intercollegiate at Stanford Golf Course, senior Nick Taylor leads the field with a 4-under 136 and the Huskies are tied with San Diego State for the team lead. Taylor shot back-to-back 68's to grab a one stroke lead over Tacoma's Andrew Putnam (Pepperdine) and San Diego State's J.J. Spaun.
The field had to endure a first round rain delay that halted the tournament on Sunday with half the round left to play. The competitors returned to the golf course on Monday and had to outlast another short weather delay before completing two rounds.
Taylor was near the leaderboard throughout the first two rounds of the tournament and was tied for third after the first 18 holes. He started his second 18 with an eagle on the Par-5, No. 1 hole and endured two bogeys before a pair of birdies on the back nine helped him to an overall 2-under-par round. Taylor is one of nine competitors under-par after 36 holes.
Darren Wallace followed up a solid first round 69 with a second round 72 and is 16th at +1. Chris Killmer is one stroke behind Wallace and tied for 19th with four others.
Freshman Chris Williams is 3-over for the tournament and tied for 23rd. Richard Lee had a tough first two rounds and is 10-over par and tied for 63rd.
Washington is tied with San Diego State for the lead, who shot a 5-under 275 in Monday's second round. Oregon is one stroke off the leaders, while USC is two strokes back and UCLA is four strokes off the pace.
The Huskies are schecduled to start teeing off at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday for the final round.
