LOS ANGELES - The No. 19 UW men's soccer team looked much improved on defense in its second game of the season vs. No. 10 UCLA but fell on a late goal, 1-0 in Los Angeles Friday night.
UW falls to 10-4-2 on the year and 5-3-0 in Pac-12 play while UCLA improves to 11-4-1 and remains perfect in conference play at 6-0-0.
UCLA defeated UCLA 4-1 in the first meeting of the season in Seattle.
The Bruins had 15 shots on the game and six shots on goal while UW took five shots but couldn't get near the net.
Joe Sofia scored the game-winning in the 71st minute after Andy Rose header it to him off of a throw-in by Kelyn Rowe.
Husky sophomore keeper Spencer Richey (Seattle, Wash.) made five saves in the game.
UW remains in California to take on SDSU on Sunday at 1 p.m.
