SEATTLE - The UW men's soccer is off to a great start in 2012, posting a 3-0-1 record. The Huskies were the co-champs of last weekend's Portland/Nike Invitational.
This week, Washington will play just one game, on the road at No. 4/1 Connecticut in Stoors on Friday on national TV. The NSCAA picked this game as its game of the week to air live on the Fox Soccer Channel at 4 p.m. PT.
Washington jumped into the coaches poll this week to No. 21 after receiving votes last week. UW remained at No. 25 in the Soccer America poll.
Connecticut, at 3-0 overall and 2-0 at home, is No. 4 in the NSCAA poll and No. 1 picked by Soccer America. UCONN has one-goal wins over Saint Francis, Dartmouth and Michigan State. Allando Matheson and Mamadou Diouf have two goals each and combine for all four goals scored by UCONN this season. Andre Blake has played every minute in goal, making eight saves and allowing just one goal.
