Washington: Second year on the squad.
2003-04 (Sophomore): notched first career victory with a three-set win over Kelly Nelson of Cal Poly on Oct. 25 in the ITA Northwest Championships...also competed in the USTA College Tennis Invite, Pac-10 Indoor Championships, and Pac-10 Championships...played doubles with Stephanie Svanfeldt and Megan Flynn.
Juniors/High School: Was the No. 1 Under-18 player in Singapore...at 16, was ranked 75th in Kanto Region, Japan for U-18...played in ITF tournaments, reaching #370's singles and #350's doubles...two-time Girls Player of the Year at her high school...won the SEASAC (Southeast Asia Sport Activity Conference) as a sophomore and senior...captained her high school squad as a senior ...did not play junior year.
Personal: Narumi "Cheryl" Naruse...born Feb. 22, 1984, in Tokyo, Japan...parents are Judy and Paul Naruse...contemplating a profession in teaching...enjoys cooking, sleeping, eating, reading Harry Potter and hanging out with friends...majoring in English.
