
No. 11 Washington Rolls Past CSUN, 101-44

SEATTLE -- Five Huskies finished in double-figures as the University of Washington women's basketball team (9-1) coasted to a 101-44 victory over CSUN Wednesday (Dec. 7) inside Alaska Airlines Arena. For the fifth time in 10 games, the Huskies have hit or gone over the century mark, which is tied for the most times in program history.
Freshman Aarion McDonald made her first collegiate start in the game and went on to score a career-high 23 points on 9-of-11 shooting and 3-of-4 from behind-the-arc. The rookie also contributed three rebounds with a pair of assists and steals.
All three of Washington's seniors finished in double-figures, led by Kelsey Plum who led all scorers with 30 points on 10-of-15 shooting and 4-of-7 from three-point range. Chantel Osahor registered her ninth consecutive double-double with 10 points and 20 rebounds, while Katie Collier finished the night with 12 points and six boards, going a perfect 5-of-5 from the field.
Rounding out the double-figure scoring efforts was freshman Amber Melgoza who scored 10 which included a pair of three-pointers. Sophomore Hannah Johnson was Washington's second leading rebounder, pulling down seven in 16 minutes of play.
As a team, Washington, who had nine different players in the scoring column, shot 52.1 percent (37-of-71) from the floor while holding CSUN to 23.5 percent (16-of-68). The Huskies also held a 50-40 advantage on the glass.
Washington's defense held the Matadors to single-digits in the first and second quarters, jumping out to a 49-15 lead at the break. The Huskies scored the first eight points of the game to take a 19-8 lead in the first quarter and then used another 9-0 run to open the second period to jump out to a 20-point lead with 7:49 remaining in the half.
Plum led all scorers at the break with 20 points, followed by McDonald's nine while Osahor pulled down 13 rebounds.
After the Matadors hit a three-pointer to open the second half, Washington held CSUN scoreless for 4:18 to take an 82-25 lead after three quarters.
