Washington Rowing Set To Host Husky Open
March 29, 2017 | Men's Rowing
SEATTLE - Washington men's rowing is set to host the Husky Open on Saturday, April 1 with collegiate races starting at 9:05 a.m. PT. The regatta also includes both masters and youth races.
The UW men will feature six boats at the Husky Open, racing three boats in the men's varsity eight, and one boat in each the second varsity eight, third varsity eight, and the varsity four.
The regatta will be Washington's first crack at racing collegiate competition this spring, as they kicked off their season last week with the Class Day Regatta. The Huskies will not race their top two eights this weekend. Instead, Washington will feature crews in the varsity races that will test the roster and give them a chance to build team depth.
"We worked really hard all offseason and the team is showing signs of an elite work ethic and approach," said head coach Michael Callahan. "This weekend will be a chance to build our team's depth and develop the rest of the team."
The UW will race against the likes of Washington State, Western Washington, and Gonzaga among others.
Full UW Race Schedule:
9:05 a.m. PT – V8, Washington vs. WWU & WSU
9:10 a.m. PT – V8, Washington (Two boats) vs. Lewis & Clark, and UPS
