SEATTLE – The Beach Dawgs are switching to island time this weekend, heading for Honolulu to take part in the Queen's Cup hosted by the University of Hawaii this Saturday and Sunday. While there, the Huskies (6-6) are scheduled to play five matches over the two days, going up against 16th-ranked Loyola Marymount, Utah, and the third-ranked Rainbow Wahine.
This is the second time Washington has paid a visit to Hawaii for beach play, making its first trip two years ago in 2016. On Saturday, at Queen's Beach, the Huskies will play LMU for the second time this season at 1:15 p.m. Pacific time, 10:15 a.m. local time. At 3:45 p.m. Pacific, the Huskies and Utes will meet for the first time ever on the beach. Utah is the only Pac-12 squad the Huskies have never faced. Then at 6:15 p.m. Pacific/3:15 p.m. HT, the Huskies will take on a Hawaii squad that has climbed up to the No. 3 AVCA ranking thanks to a 23-3 overall record.
Sunday, the four teams will be seeded based on Saturday's results, and matched up for two semifinal matches, followed by a third-place match and then the championship match.
The Huskies are coming off three wins last week to get back to .500, beating Boise State twice and Portland once without losing a point in all three.
