Washington Run-Rules Utah Valley, 9-1

SEATTLE – Behind a career-high 16 strikeouts from Kelley Lynch, the No. 10 Washington Huskies defeated Utah Valley 9-1 in six innings on Monday afternoon. Washington improves to 33-11 overall on the season.
Lynch tossed a complete-game one hitter to pick up her seventh win of the season. At the plate, Lynch went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Four Huskies recorded multi-hits in the game, including Sami Reynolds and Baylee Klingler who led the charge with three hits each. Klingler also recorded a team-high four RBI in the game.
Klingler got the Husky offense started in the first inning, driving in Reynolds from second with a RBI single for the 1-0 lead. Klingler brought in another run in the third on a double out to right center for the 2-0 advantage.
Utah Valley's lone run and hit of the game came in the fifth inning on a solo home run by Linnah Rebolledo, cutting Washington's lead to one at 2-1.
The Husky bats came alive in the fifth, scoring six runs on eight hits. Klingler hit the first of three home runs of the inning, a two-run shot that brought in Reynolds. In the next at bat, Madison Huskey sent her 12th home run of the season over the left field wall. Jadelyn Allchin barely missed a home run and ended up with a triple to send Olivia Johnson to the plate. Johnson's five pitch at-bat ended with a home run out to left. The final run of the inning came on a Lilly Agan pinch-hit single that scored Lynch for the 8-1 lead.
Washington secured the run-rule victory in the sixth on a Megan Vandegrift RBI double for the 9-1 win.
The Huskies return to the field this weekend for a three-game series at Utah. First pitch on Friday from Salt Lake City is set for 4 p.m. PT. All three games of the series will air on Utah Live Stream.
