
Washington Hosts Pacific Wednesday

SEATTLE -- Washington women's basketball (2-0, 0-0) continues its homestand to start the season on Wednesday, Nov. 15 when the Huskies host Pacific (2-0, 0-0 WCC) in Alaska Airlines Arena for a 7 p.m. PT tip off. UW opened the season last week with two decisive wins at home, as did Pacific. This is the sixth meeting all-time between the programs. The game will be aired on the Washington Live Stream with Jason Dorow on the call. Gary Hill will call the action on 1090 KPTR-AM.

Two Huskies scored in double digits (Ladine & Long), and seven scored 6+ points (Daniels, Stines, Ladine, Sellers, Briggs, Brown, Long). » Sayvia Sellers, Chloe Briggs, Olivia Anderson, and Ari Long all made their Husky debuts. » Ladine led all scorers with 20 points, and was in double digits before halftime. Also recorded 5 rebounds and career high-tying 3 steals. » UW shot 46.0% while holding Sacramento State to 22.7%. Huskies out-rebounded the Hornets 47-24 and forced 22 turnovers. » Sacramento State hadn't scored fewer than 40 points since 2007. » Gillmer led both teams with 8 rebounds. Stines led both teams with 4 assists.
LAST SEASON
The 2022-23 season saw the most overall and conference wins since the 2016-17 season. The Huskies made their first postseason appearance since 2017 when they earned being an automatic qualifier to the WNIT, and moving on to the Fab Four was the furthest Washington had advanced in program history.
SCOUTING REPORT
Pacific is 2-0 in their non-conference games to open the season at home. On November 10, they defeated Cal State Fullerton 73-57, and on November 12, they defeated Cal State Bakersfield 67-54.
The Tigers finished last season with a loss in the WCC Tournament Semifinals.
PRESEASON NOD
Dalayah Daniels earned Preseason All-Conference Honorable Mention recognition, as voted on by the media.
THE TEAM
Returners - Washington returns eight from last season's team, including three starters - Lauren Schwartz, Jayda Noble, and Dalayah Daniels. Hannah Stines, Teagan Brown, Nia Lowery, Shayla Gillmer, and Elle Ladine also return. Schwartz, Noble, Daniels, and Ladine all received 2022-23 postseason honors from the conference.
Newcomers - The Husky newcomers are freshmen Olivia Anderson, Chloe Briggs, Ari Long, and Sayvia Sellers. The four were ESPN.com's 14th-ranked recruiting class for the Class of 2023. All four made their Husky debuts during the season opener.
National Signing Day (Class of 2024) - Washington welcomed two new Huskies to the program on National Signing Day (11.08.23) with Devin Coppinger and Annika Soltau. Coppinger, a 5-10 guard from Everson, Wash. (Nooksack Valley High School), will be staying in-state to come to Washington. Soltau, a 6-4 forward from Freiburg, Germany (Eisvogel USC Freiburg), is coming from across the world to join the Huskies.

Winter Supplies Drive - Washington women's and men's basketball will collectively host a winter supplies drive in partnership with Seattle's Union Gospel Mission's "Season of Hope." The collection period will begin with both team's season openers on Monday, Nov. 6 and will continue through Dec. 9, when the men's team hosts Gonzaga. All new or gently used items will be collected at all basketball home games and can be dropped off inside the entrances of Alaska Airlines Arena.
