June 23, 2023 | Men's Golf
Emerson Newsome, who served as an assistant coach for the Washington men's golf team in 2022-23, has taken a job with the Ole Miss men's program.Â
Â
"On behalf of our program and Washington Athletics, I want to thank Emerson for the excellent job he did during his time on Montlake," said UW head coach Alan Murray. "He is a great coach, an even better colleague and we are sad to see him leave.
Â
"Emmo and his wife Kelby are truly wonderful people and it has been a pleasure to be around them and call them friends," Murray added.
Â
During the 2022-23 season, the Huskies earned a berth to the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season.
Â
"Emerson has been a wonderful influence on our guys and his attention to detail and desire to drive our program forward was an inspiration. We will all miss him," Murray continued.Â
Â
"I wish him and Kelby nothing but success moving forward and Ole Miss have got a good one," Murray concluded. "The reality of college sports is that the most talented people will have a lot of opportunities. It has been the case with Michael Wilson, Thomas Sutton and now Emerson since I have been here. I feel fortunate to have worked alongside bright talented coaches and I know that we can attract guys here that will continue to help us drive the program forward and continue to be successful."
